Lincoln Navigator Review
The Lincoln Navigator offers a commanding appearance, but effuses a softer, more
sophisticated look than other large SUVs. Navigator was completely restyled but
the changes were subtle and it takes a reasonably keen eye to distinguish the
current model from the previous ones. Lincoln says the 1961 Lincoln Continental's
inspired the Navigator's symmetrical instrument panel. It certainly works well
in the Navigator, enhancing the spaciousness of the interior as it curves up from
the wide center console across the top of the instrument pod on one side, and
across the glove box on the other.

The biggest and most immediately apparent improvement is in the way the new Navigator
steers. It uses a new variable ratio, speed sensitive rack-and-pinion system that
is tight, responsive and precise, reflecting the development team's goal of making
the big rig steer like a much smaller vehicle, with the same basic characteristics
of the Lincoln LS sport sedan. Amazingly, Lincoln engineers have taken a truck
chassis and totally reengineered it such that the new Lincoln Navigator does handle
and ride much like a large luxury sedan. Now if you need to carry up to eight
passengers and/or cargo and enjoy the experience as a driver, you can. Those who
dislike large SUVs were impressed with what Lincoln has done.
